The Metropolitan Museum of Art
As part of my internship at the design department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I was asked to ideate and create design concepts for a large-scale immersive wall feature meant to cover and activate a large empty wall in the ticketing area.
Landscape
This design combines sculptural 3D objects with 2D objects (paintings, tapestries, prints) overlaid on fluid, organic forms, to create a sense of immersion and depth.
Silhouettes
Pattern-like closeups of 2D objects are overlaid on human silhouettes—signifying the variety of interests of the Met’s visitors and their different experiences within the museum’s walls.
Looking
As an encyclopedic museum of art which draws visitors spanning interests, cultures and continents, at any given moment the Met contains a multitude of different gazes.
This painting-focused design overlays eye details taken from the European Paintings department atop a painterly sky backdrop.
This design references all the different Met visitors and highlights the process of looking at art, as well as the variety of the European Paintings collection.
